gatecamper - not just a pretty interface
We take security seriously
Your API key is vitally important to keep safe, especially full keys. Gatecamper never stores your API key in plain text, ever, and won't even show you your API key or expose it to developers. In short, not even you can get your own API key out.
What is done to keep my data secure?
We store your key encrypted using 4096-bit RSA encryption techniques, the same standard of encryption that banks use to store credit cards. Gatecamper strives to maintain PCI compliance, the same standards required by online merchants storing credit card details.
Let's face it- most developers working on EVE applications simply don't have time or motivation to use such strict security, and often security isn't a concern to them. We know, we've been there, done that. Gatecamper makes it easier for developers to focus on their applications without degrading your security.
How can I be sure Gatecamper's an improvement?
You can't, simple as that. Our service is kept open and vetted by many people, and we allow trusted developers access to our codebase (though not any data or access details) to allow them to verify our integrity.
What we can assure you of, though, is that keeping your key in one place is a lower risk solution than giving it out to many different applications.
Recommended for high-risk networks
If you use EVE applications on a high-risk network- that is, wireless, campus, or office internet connections, your access to the EVE API may be monitored, sniffed, or even blocked.
Gatecamper offers SSL transport encryption as used by banks and online merchants to safeguard your keys and data- both on the website and for applications using the Gatecamper API interface.
