a secure proxy for the eve online api
Gatecamper lets you keep your EVE API data secure
Corporation CEO, industrialist or simply someone who is security-conscious, you know the risks you take when you hand out your full key.
By sharing your full key you entrust an application's developer with constantly updated tactical information, market information, and asset information, not to mention member tracking and wallet information if you're in a corporation.
The solution to sharing your full key
To prevent your data from being exploited, Gatecamper provides another layer of security between your data and developers.
The closest analogy is a firewall- Gatecamper sits between applications and your data, and only lets the applications get what they need to to their work with. You get to review exactly what a single application will have access to, and can provide strictly limited, highly secure keys with confidence that data the application doesn't really need won't get into the wrong hands.
How it works, and why
Gatecamper lets applications sign up, define what they need, and then let you create a key for that application. That key will provide access to only specific parts of your key's data, while keeping the rest locked away. The key Gatecamper generates won't work with the EVE API servers and is locked down to a specific application.
You need to provide your API key- full or limited- to Gatecamper. We'll store your key behind the same level of security and encryption that banks use to secure credit card numbers. In fact, we stick to the same guidelines- PCI DSS- that credit card handlers like banks are required to stick to. Your key is never stored 'in the clear', and we secure transmission using HTTPS.
